I just read this on the MSNBC website: "Hackett, the 1st Iraq vet to run as a Democrat, in a time when we AS A POLITICAL PARTY are trying hard to deflect attacks by the GOP right wing machine on our commitment to national security & terrorism. And to do this in such a crucial Red State like Ohio. Unbelievable!" exclaimed a commenter nicknamed "fightingLadyinblue" on the MYDD.com website."

Yeah, they go for the hyperbole, ignoring the fact that most of the candidates who are Iraq veterans are running as Democrats.

Yeah, they look those little self-righteous tempests when individuals lose message discipline and forget that they're on a publicly accessible forum. This so the establishment media can throw another distracting shiny bauble to themselves and the masses.

Meanwhile, really bad things continue to happen.

My diary wasnt an endorsement of MSNBC. I was just happy to see MyDD cited along with dKos as an influencial blog, and thought other members would be interested in the citiation.

Speaking of message discipline, I dont think I am too good at that, or that it was required to post here. Could you send me the current party message discipline rules? Also, specific reference to what I am supposed to say about the occupation of Iraq would be helpful. It's a big issue for me and I am not getting a clear sense of the party's current message policy on that.

Read this slowly so maybe you'll understand it.

You'll note that I didn't mention "current party message" - you did.

If you had message discipline you'd spend your time:

1. Criticizing dubya for taking the country into a war in Iraq based on lies and marketing.

2. Criticizing dubya and his administration for their rank incompetence in Iraq.

3. Criticizing the enabling media in this country which have acted (and continue to do so) as stenographers in uncritically circulating dubya's propaganda about Iraq.

4. Criticizing dubya's wholly inadequate (and continued so) response to Hurricane Katrina. This as the nes plus ultra of the Grover Norquist philosophy to "drown government in a bath tub".

5. Criticizing the culture of corruption in the republican party as evidenced by the "K Street Project, Tom Delay, and Abramoff.

6. Criticizing dubya for still not firing Karl for committing a felony. How's that for being strong on national security?

That's message discipline. Start excercising such as an individual.

And that's just a few examples.

Instead, you spend time on a primary campaign which was tough and then someone dropped out. I've got news for you - they're all tough.

The msrnc crap highlighted a this site to perpetuate the meme that a whole bunch of people got stirred up (and further, that progressive blogs are "just so silly and radical"). I'd get excited if they had run a report on the MyDD poll and related discussions here. They didn't, did they?

Save your freakin' high dudgeon for the Wall Street Journal.

You seem agitated that you dont have editorial control to keep people 'on message.' Is that your job? I obviously dont care about message discipline, nor do I feel a responsibility to tote a party line in comments on MyDD.

And, your message sucks. You expect to win elections by standing up for nothing more than "republicans are bad, assume we are better?" The message is not inspiring.

Yes, I am an amateur. Are you a professional? A professional what? Blogger, political apparatchik? Or are you just self-annointed in your editorial role here?

You're a lawyer, right? I pointed out a reference to MyDD made by MSNBC. The citation was made without commentary or congradulations. It is the same sort of citation I have seen Bowers and the front page bloggers make over the past 2 years.

I can't tell whether you are just in an unreasonably foul mood, or you are socially retarted. I have lived communist countries before. I dont like subjorning expression to constructs of party discipline. You dont like the fact that MSNBC reported the blog's response to Hackett's withdrawal because it 'perpetuates a meme that a whole bunch of people got stirred up?' Well, too bad. A lot of people did get stirred up.

I know, you will say that I have been indoctrinated by corporate media, I am too stupid to see it, and I am unable to understand the truth of the world... the truth that your wisdom, experience and insight allows you see so clearly. Hence, the stream of dismissive insults, deserved both because I am a tool of the media, and because I dont defer to your greatness.

But from my perspective you are acting like a cliched stormtrooper from the ministry of truth. You not only insist that everyone agree with you, but they accept all your complicated constructs, and speak with your words. Otherwise they are subjected to petty attacks. If you want to start to your own blog and toss people when they dont meet your standards, you are free to do so. However, you are not welcome to impose your orthodoxy on me here.

You are using the word dudgeon not only too frequently, but awkwardly, and correctly only if you are being sarcastic. What kind of pretention is that? I cant tell if you dont understand its proper use, rare as it is, or just want to be furthur insulting by implying through your usage that my calm and straightforward comments are to be dismissed as some kind of immature tirade. Either way, after two degrees in languages, and three years teaching Greek and Latin at a major state university, I am not in the mood to word joust with you.
